Background Investigator
The Gumshoe Group is recruiting POST Background Investigators. This position is responsible for conducting administrative pre-employment investigations for public safety positions. The individual(s) assigned to this position will be directed to perform background investigations for various Public Safety agencies throughout California. All pre-employment background investigations will follow California POST background guidelines.
All applicants must be self-motivated, capable of multitasking, have excellent communication skills, with good judgment, and possess excellent writing skills. Must be able to;
- Work independently to conduct all investigations for public safety applicants and review candidate files, conduct face-to-face and phone interviews with the candidate, employers, family, friends, and neighbors, and perform file reviews at police agencies and employers.
- Write clear & concise final reports, to present information clearly and in an organized and cogent manner for hiring consideration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, staff, and management.
- Capable of multitasking and can juggle multiple assignments skillfully.
Requirements:
- Successfully complete a Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Background Investigators course.
- Experience in conducting POST background investigation
- Superior computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS 365.
- Excellent writing skills
- Travel is required
- Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Possession of valid vehicle insurance
Desirable skills:
- Becoming a Notary Public within the first six months.
- Experience in criminal or specialized investigation
- Completion of interview and interrogation training
- Experience conducting interviews and interrogations
- Certified Examiner for Voice Stress (CVSA)
- CA BSIS Licensed Private Investigator
